I know that the term "passive income" is a popular buzzword nowadays, and for good reason. Everyone knows that you should not be relying solely on your job as your main source of income. It's hard to make ends meet even for the most "degreed" earners right now. The economy is literally folding in front of our eyes, so the smart thing to do is to make as money as you can to prepare for the shock. The problem is, no one has the time to work MORE hours. The good news is....You don't necessarily have to. These simple tips and tricks can bring in extra money for you in those tight spots without sacrificing extra time out of your already busy day.

Make Your Smart Phone Even Smarter

I don't understand why people would pay hundreds of dollars for a smartphone only to have dumb apps that do nothing for them financially. I've been making my phone make money for me for about three years now and the market is constantly growing everyday. Here are a few of my favorite apps that I've been using since their inception to make extra money.

Embee Mobile Meter

This app collects data from your Internet usage details. Now before you jump on that whole privacy bandwagon, you do realize that you really have NO privacy on the Internet, right? That is the biggest myth I ever heard. (If you don't believe me, Google Edward Snowden). You might as well let Big Brother pay you for your information since they are using your information anyway. I learned this lil tidbit early on. Install this app and let it sit on your phone while you collect points that can be redeemed for Amazon or Visa gift cards. The longer you let it run, the higher the points you receive. For instance, when I first started a few years ago, I earned five points a day. Now I earn twenty points a day! Ibotta

Unless you've been under a rock these last two years, everybody should know about this app. I got in on the ground floor and watched it grow into this megalith of an app that it is now. Back when I began using it, I would get 25 cents for milk or dish detergent, but now you can earn a lot more for everything you buy! They even cover more stores and more categories like beer/wine, online shopping, and more! You just take pictures of your receipt and they give you money for the things you buy. The effort here is minimal but the perks are well worth it! Here's the link:

You should also try these apps as well. There under the same premise as Ibotta without the specific stores. You just upload your receipts (from any store) and earn points for PayPal cash or gift cards of your choice. Here are two of my favs:

These are just a few ways that I make a few extra dollars per month. I find using these apps come in handy every month when it's time to pay bills like my cell phone bill or for Hulu. They won't make you rich, but used consistently, they can used to build a nest egg for emergencies without taking any money out of your pocket.

You Know I Can't Get Enough of Smoothies, Right?!?

You know how much I LOVE smoothies, right? I am so addicted to them! I'm always trying to come up with more flavor combinations and at the same time get my recommended fruit and vegetable requirements. I know I should be concerned with the nutritional benefits of my drinks, but I don't pay too much attention to it.

That's where this book actually comes in handy. When I put my recipes together, I just focus on taste and consistency. With this book, they actually tell you the BENEFITS of adding certain fruits and vegetables together to get the most benefits with the least amount of work and time. The book also goes on to tell you what recipes you should use to health aid in health issues, sexual issues, and just overall health.

I enjoyed reading it myself. It definitely added to my arsenal of recipes that I go to on a daily basis to keep my tastes from getting to accustomed to the same ol flavors. The research put into this book was very good. It was well put together, and even if you don't want to read it all in one sitting (which I did), you can go straight to the part that you need and still be able to grasp what you need. The bonus content books was also pretty helpful. You should definitely look into this book. It's worth it!

If You Love Pandora, Then You Should Try....

I know how expensive collecting Pandora charms can be. Those little charms can get very expensive in the long run. I know they're cute, but I'm here to let you know that there's a cheaper way to show you care.

Avon has a Pandora-like necklace and bracelet as part of their Cherished Moments collection. The jewelry is sterling silver and is very affordable. Most times, the charms are on sale 3/$10 while the bracelet is $7.99 and the necklace is $9.99. Avon also updates and rotates their offerings of charms based the holiday season. 

As far as quality, I really think there isn't a big difference. Pandora might have charms that have precious stones such as diamonds etc, but I'm not sure about that. But what I do know is that from what I've seen, most of the charms look equivalent to basic charms such as those above, which I don't think it's necessary to pay a huge premium price for.

Please Tell Me They Are Not Serious...

I just saw this on the news last night and I am so baffled...Look at this:

Michigan may add safe haven baby boxes

Are we kidding right now? I mean, seriously?!? So now we are going to encourage our young people to be grossly irresponsible like this. Look, we all know that the media is oversexualizing our kids on a daily basis. It's everywhere they look and go. Implementing something like this is not only egregious, but it's downright irresponsible. We all know that teen pregnancy is a problem, but removing the responsibility of the parties involved is not going to solve anything. If anything, it's going to give teens the impression that they can keep acting irresponsibly and recklessly and won't have to ever face the consequences of their actions.

Now I know many of you are saying, "But we have to do SOMETHING, right?". That's true. How about we treat out teens like human beings. How about we talk to them about real life and not just fantasy or make-believe situations that they would never encounter. For instance, all they see on TV and in the entertainment industry is that sex is so glamorous and enjoyable and that they should be doing it all the time, but they never get exposed to downfalls and intricacies that sex brings into relationships between people. Problems like sexually transmitted diseases, pregnancies, and broken homes and relationships are on the rise and are not fully explained to our young adults, leading them into situations that they are not fully prepared to deal with. Encouraging young adults to engage in safe sex by using condoms will definitely help more than posting "baby boxes" everywhere (which only deals with the after effects of the issue at hand). We need to be promoting a healthier viewpoint about sex and relationships.

What we are seeing now in today's society is what the outcomes of not laying down ground rules for sexual behavior and taking responsibility for your actions look like. Our teens have no idea what a real relationship looks like or how one even works. We made marriage look like a burden, so no one wants it anymore, yet we didn't replace it with anything that's substantial, so everyone's out here just "winging it" with no real purpose. They don't realize that sex is only suppose to happen in committed relationships (preferably marriages) and that sexual energy is exchanged between people that lingers long after the act has ended. I'm not going to get all metaphysical here, but people need to realize that everything in life is not a game and that everything we do has serious repercussions that affects everyone.

I'm going to end by saying this; I know that there's an epidemic of teens and young adults immersing and debasing themselves in this sex culture right now, but throwing out simple solutions to complex problems is not going to help things. We need to take these situations more seriously and stop pretending like everything will just work itself out in the end. Trust me, in the end will be too late.

I've been on the Internet for years, so I get to try a lot of free stuff ALL THE TIME. This is one of the latest trials that I participated in. Check it out!

Jimmy Dean Premium 9oz Bowl Campaign

I got to try two of Jimmy Dean's Premium Breakfast Bowls for free so far and this is what I thought about each one.

The first one I tried is the Ranchero Steak and Eggs Bowl. The ingredients include steak, eggs, cheddar cheese, onions, peppers, potatoes, and salsa. Now I must admit that I was skeptical at first because I don't eat steak on a regular basis. The thought of steak for breakfast really had me looking at this bowl with major side eye...LoL!

                                                                               

I'm glad I did decide to try it. The steak was not dry and bland tasting like other frozen entrees are. The combination of the different flavors of the onions and peppers with the salsa was really good. I really enjoyed the flavor. I don't know if I would eat this all the time, but I would buy it occasionally so that I can enjoy something different for breakfast.

The second one I tried was the Burrito Breakfast Bowl flavor. This one was my favorite between the two I did try. It has some interesting ingredients including corn, black beans, onions, peppers, and eggs. I found the corn and black beans most interesting because you wouldn't normally hear that in a breakfast dish. They actually tasted really good together in this bowl. The peppers in this bowl also was a refreshing kick that I wasn't expecting. I'm actually going to buy this flavor more than the Steak flavor. I actually enjoyed this combination of ingredients more than the steak one.

Conclusion:

I did enjoy both of the varieties of the Jimmy Dean Premium Breakfast Bowls, although my favorite was the Burrito Breakfast. If you want to shake up your breakfast routine, I suggest you try them. There is another variety, Loaded Potato (which I haven't tried yet, but will). You won't be disappointed. They're $2.97 at your local Walmart, so you won't lose much.

I Don't Usually Listen To Gospel Music, But....

I don't usually listen to gospel music due to how secular it sounds, but this performance sent chills down my spine. I dare you to listen to this performance and not feel the Holy Spirit moving in you. The dude playing the harp...Mannn...that man is money for real!!! You know you're dealing with that serious REAL gospel when the musician is playing the harp! I've been to about six different churches and never seen anyone play a harp before, yet I see it all through Psalms and other books in the Bible. I'm just gon' leave that right there for you to ponder...

I definitely downloaded this to my phone AND told my Mama and her church friend about it....LoL! But anyway, I really liked this song, especially since the lyrics come straight from The Word. The Dynamic Duo

One of the things I hate about winter is the fact that my skin feels like a dried up washcloth...LoL! No matter how much lotion or body oils or body butters I use, the colder the temperature is outside, the drier my skin will feel. It not only feels dry on the outer layers, but it feels like it’s drying from the inside out. Funny story...I have literally been binge watching TV and YouTube for the last three days. When I say binge watching, I mean staying up til like 4:30 in the morning watching videos! As you may know, staying up late can wreak havoc on your skin.

I usually have good skin. My only problems are dark circles and laugh lines around my eyes (which I don't mind). During my binge, I noticed how my skin looked dry and blotchy. I had dry patches and weird bumps and everything. Too Many Problems, Not Enough Time....

I know everybody is up in arms about the news of unarmed people of color getting murdered by policeman on a daily basis. Everyone is full of rage, but yet no one is full of solutions. And with good reason, too. That's because the solution is not that simple. You have to realize that everything we are experiencing is systematic. This whole system of racism, sexism, genocide, etc didn't happen overnight. It came from generations of planning and implementation. Unfortunately for us, we don't have generations of time to play catch up to implement solutions to save us from the system.

Even though we don't have the time to play catch up, I think we should still try to save ourselves from this atrocity. We owe that to ourselves and our future generations. Believe it or not, I think the solution to our problem is quite simple. If we, as a people, go back to our roots, I think we all would be better off for it. When I say go back to our roots, I mean that we should use all of our talents and gifts for the benefit of us. I know it sounds selfish, but trust me, it's not. If you think about it, we are being exploited and have been exploited for so long, it's ridiculous. We have literally made every other race of people on this planet more wealthy except US. And it was OUR blood, sweat, and tears that made it happen and yet WE have nothing to show for it.

I know it sounds scary and radical at first, but hear me out. Nothing that we're doing would really change that drastically. We as a people are very resilient and crafty. Think about it, we survived EVERY drug and disease that they've thrown at us. And yet, we're still thriving!! Now, if we apply these same strengths to our own upkeep, imagine how great we could be!!! For instance, we made great strides with the Black bank movement. All we have to do is just use that momentum to keep the progression rolling like using all the money we put into those Black banks to fund our own endeavors. We already have the blueprint for success. Look at Black Wall Street. Sure it was a small town, but we were at the pinnacle of success to the point that they were afraid and HAD TO shut it down. With all the Colored millionaires and billionaires we have in this world now, no one ever tried to duplicate that ever again. Why!?! Sure we know the odds are stacked against us and everything, but at this critical juncture, what exactly do we have to lose?!?

I can go on and on with this topic, but I feel that talking & complaining without solutions is futile. I just wanted to put SOMETHING out there. It might work, it might not. But I'm done with just sitting on my hands waiting for the next colored person to be murdered like a sheep waiting on the slaughter. If we're going to do something, the TIME IS NOW!! Let me know what you guys think....
